The Yobe State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs is tasked with supervising, coordinating, and enhancing the performance of Local Government Authorities and Traditional Institutions across the state. Our mandate ensures effective governance, accountability, and development at the grassroots level.
The Ministry operates under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and State Laws, which provide the legal framework for supervising Local Government administration, regulating Traditional Institutions, and ensuring compliance with governance standards across all 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe State.
The Ministry oversees the performance, accountability, and ethical conduct of Local Government Councils. It coordinates Traditional Leaders to preserve cultural heritage and promote community participation, ensuring sustainable grassroots development and harmonious governance.
